Hymn of the Omnissiah
Binaric chant of the Adeptus Mechanicus
- Spoken by
- Adeptus Mechanicus
- Refrain
- “Knowledge is power. Guard it well.”
Context
Long before the Imperium of Man, the priests of Mars worshipped the Machine-God. When the Emperor came at the dawn of the Great Crusade, He revealed Himself to them as the Omnissiah — the Machine-God incarnate — and the Treaty of Olympus Mons bound the Mechanicus to His vision forever after.
The Hymn of the Omnissiah is intoned in binaric cant by the tech-priests of every forge world as they begin their labours. Mortal apprentices learn its translated form in their first year. Skitarii warriors mutter it as they march. It is the closest the Mechanicus comes to song.
The Litany
Praise be the Omnissiah, who is the soul of the machine.
Praise be the patterns, which are His memory.
Praise be the spirits within the metal, which are His breath.
What is broken, we mend in His name.
What is lost, we seek in His ledgers.
What is forbidden, we leave undisturbed.
Knowledge is power. Knowledge is His.
By cog and credo, I serve.
Response of the brotherhood
“Knowledge is power. Guard it well.”
Have you sworn an oath fit for the Mars?
Speak your vow at the shrine
