The Sisters of Battle — the Adepta Sororitas — are the Ecclesiarchy's militant arm and the living proof that faith in the Emperor is no metaphor. Trained from orphanage to Schola Progenium, they wield bolters, melta and flamer with hymns on their lips, and through faith alone they sometimes work miracles the Inquisition cannot quite explain. They were forbidden 'men under arms' by the letter of decree — so they raised women, and the Imperium has never recovered from how well that worked.
